Intro/Announcements
Meeting was called to order at 7:40 pm
Pledge of Allegiance and the Girl Scout Promise were recited

Council Updates
Journey kits are now available at the Girl Scout Store for troops flying up.  These kits are intended to save the girls money and include sash or vest, journey book, flag patch, number patches, situpon and are $30 for the sash kit, $45 for the vest.

We are over our membership goal for the year - and Council made 96% of their goal.  Of course, no good deed goes unpunished - we'll have a new (higher) goal for next year!

Troop Finance Reports are due to Amy by June 15th.
The report is just an account of what money was taken in and how it was spent.  You don't have to get down to the penny and can round off your numbers.  You will also need to attach a copy of the last bank statement received before the June Meeting. You don't have to have a zero balance - you can simply state that the remaining money in the account will be for next year. You can even state that it will be for remaining activities for this year.
Form and Guideline can be found here:

Summer Camp registration is still on-going www.hercamp.org
Council is still collecting new socks and new underwear for their Cradles to Crayons program www.cradlestocrayons.org.  These will be collected at summer camps - and you can use the camps as a drop-off site.

Destinations (trips for scouts) has a trip coming to Boston for girls 13-18, July 16-24th
One If By Land, Two If By Sea
Registration deadline is 6/1, cost is $975/girl
http://www.girlscouts.org/forgirls/travel/destinations/event_details.asp?eventid=535
They are also looking for volunteers to:  greet girls at the airport, participate in an opening ceremony planning committee, write welcome notes for attendees, make swaps to swap with attendees
If interested, contact Joan Reilly at jreilly@girlscoutseasternmass.org

GSEM is testing a new patch for Cadettes on energy conservation.  This testing will begin in September and if you're interested, you'll need to meet the following criteria:
◊ Commit to completing 1 of the 3 patches between September and December 2011
◊ Participate in evaluation tasks
◊ Leader must participate in a virtual orientation prior to September and a debrief in December.
If interested, contact Joan Reilly at jreilly@girlscoutseasternmass.org

Fall Sales will be 9/30-10/28/2011 with a theme of "Success for Tomorrow".  There will be some new items and modified pricing for the coming sale.  Training will be by troop this year - and the following dates have been announced:
9/6, 6-8:30 pm in North Andover
9/7, 6-8:30 pm in Waltham
9/8, 6-8:30 pm in Middleboro

There is one more Coco Key program being offered this school year.  June 5th from 2-8pm.  Check out www.girlscoutseasternmass.org and seach Programs for Coco Key for more information.

Plimouth Plantation offers some great programs for scouts - and their event coordinator is a Girl Scout Leader!  Check out http://www.plimoth.org/learn/programs-kids-scouts-families/scouts .  You could combine this with the Wind In The Pines ziplines and make a really full day!

Archery facilitators are available through Hale Reservation in Westwood if anyone is interested in pursuing...

Amy will try to get more information on this for a future posting

Service Unit Update
Building on the Common is up and running - and it can be reserved for an entire year!  They may also be giving North Reading Girl Scouts some closet space to store town supplies like flags, bridge, etc...

Looking into moving the Leader's Meeting to the Library Activity Room - it seemed more intimate last time.

We are going to rent a portable P/A system for Fly Up - and if we like it, NRGS will purchase it on a payment plan.  This will be available for town events, encampment, etc...

There is talk about doing a Town-wide Encampment next year - but this depends on the interest level for the Council Wide 100-year celebration Camporee.

June Leader Meeting is being moved to 6/14 and will be in the Library Activity Room.  This is the night before the Troop Treasury Reports are due...hint, hint.  We will use this meeting to briefly finish up this year's business and the rest of the meeting to help seed a calendar for the Event Planning Committee to work on this summer

Don't forget that there are new badge books coming in the fall.
